Private bank becomes first member of Queer Britain's Corporate Supporters' Club

COUTTS JOINS OUR

CORPORATE SUPPORTERS' CLUB

SUPPORT

We are proud to announce that the private bank Coutts is becoming the very first member of Queer Britain’s Corporate Supporters' Club. If the country is to get the national LGBTQ+ museum it deserves it’s going to take allies and supporters in all sectors: community, corporates, government; LGBTQ+ people and allies from every walk of life, both individuals and organisations.

Peter Flavel, Chief Executive, Coutts said, 'For generations, Coutts has been a home to the trail blazers, the pioneers - the people that pushed at the boundaries to move society forwards. All too often the change-makers in the LGTBQ+ community have been pushed to the margins of our shared history. We want to ensure that generations to come can learn from the past by supporting Queer Britain in their drive to found the first LGBTQ+ museum thereby helping to add to our nation’s family tree.'

We have created the Corporate Supporters' Club as a way for companies to get involved with Queer Britain at this early stage, to help us build valuable relationships, fundraise and advocate for us and help us dig larger and more secure foundations from which the museum will grow. It is a way for companies to put their shoulders to the wheel while demonstrating commitment and allyship for LGBTQ+ communities as a whole.

It takes courage and imagination for companies like Coutts to roll up their sleeves at this relatively early stage in an organisation’s development and to join us for the long haul and shows commitment to a deeper relationship. It clearly adds to the authenticity of their support. This early commitment means that they will always be a part of the Queer Britain story.

Members of staff from Coutts have been enthusiastically attending our events since the very start of the project, some have become individual supporters, and they have been working hard to do their bit to improve LGBT visibility within the sector: last year we worked with their staff to create a timeline for their headquarters and they shared their branding with us on their huge windows in the Strand, which gave us a huge amount of attention as an emerging museum, they have hosted events for us and also invited us to speak at their events. We are excited to move our relationship into this new phase.
