THE GATEWAYS

ONLINE EVENT

THANKS TO DIGITAL EVENTS MANAGER, NEIL HUDSON-BASING / JESSE GOUGH FOR SOCIAL MEDIA / LINDA RILEY, PUBLISHER OF DIVA MAGAZINE

In partnership with Diva magazine, Queer Britain hosted an online event about the legendary women's club, The Gateways, and the feature documentary being made about it. From the 1930s to the ‘80s, The Gateways was one of the most important cultural hotspots for lesbians and bisexual women, attracting a heady mix of clientele including artist Maggi Hambling, singer Dusty Springfield and film star Diana Dors. It also featured in the iconic 1968 film, The Killing of Sister George. Chaired by House of Pride co-founder Alex D'Sa, the conversation featured Gate's patrons Trudy Howson and DJ Ritu with Lucie Warrington and Jacquie Lawrence, director and producer of the Gateways documentary. Introduced by Lisa Power.
