After a two month gallery refit, friends, funders, supporters and collaborators joined the Queer Britain team to celebrate our reopening and to get a first look at our new displays. The main gallery features six new themes, Resist!, Body and Mind, The World Around Us, Queer Creativity, Club Kids and Live, Laugh Love. Under these set themes, the displays will constantly change to highlight new stories, co-curated with our community. We start off by telling the stories of the Black Lesbian and Gay Centre, AIDS Quilt 23, Justin Fashanu, Women's Liberation Music, Club Kali, and Dora Carrington and Lytton Strachey. In our temporary exhibition space, modern print culture is explored through Queer Britain's own collections in Queer Print and a pop-up display marks 40 years of the landmark film festival, BFI Flare.
