MADAME F AWARD

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Artist


  • The Competition is open to anyone with a UK address on 1 January 2024.
  • Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian and The Charity may ask for evidence of this before a prize is awarded.
  • Members of the judging panel, Queer Britain or the Sponsor staff members, Associates, Trustees, Patrons or close family members thereof, will not be eligible to enter the Competition.


The Work


  • The submitted entry (the “Work”) for 2024’s competition must be original, and is limited to 2D including painting, collage, photography, drawing or illustration.
  • Entries must be submitted digitally and be no larger than 10mb in size.


The Entry Process


  • Only the creator of the submitted artwork may enter the competition.
  • In order to enter the competition, all entrants shall complete an online application form (the “Entry Form”) and follow directions therein.
  • Entries must be submitted by 31 March 2024 ; Work submitted after this date will not be accepted.
  • While there is no entry fee, we kindly suggest a donation of £10 to our charity, using the link provided after submission.


The Selection Process


  • The judges shall be appointed by Queer Britain at its sole discretion.
  • The judging criteria will include: relevance to the theme; creativity and originality; overall impression and quality of the artwork and impact of accompanying statement.
  • The Judges’ decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Top Ten shortlisted entrants will be contacted in Spring 2024.


Licensing of Artwork


  • By entering the competition, you agree to grant Queer Britain Museum Ltd and Queer Britain Trading Ltd a non-exclusive license in perpetuity to feature your artwork in exhibitions, publications and on Art Award related merchandise and promotional material.
  • Winners grant an exclusive license to Queer Britain Trading Ltd for use of their art for one year, and thereafter a non-exclusive license in perpetuity to feature your artwork in exhibitions, publications and on Art Award related merchandise and promotional material, unless Madame F supercedes this with a commercial agreement with the artist for use on a wine bottle, in which case this will be a shared license between Madame F and Queer Britain.
  • By entering the Awards, you grant Madame F and Queer Britain non-exclusive rights to use your artwork for the purposes of promoting the Queer Britain/ Madame F partnership and these awards.
  • Any conversations regarding further exclusive commercial use of your artwork will be conducted directly with Madame F’s representatives.


Prizes


  • Any Competition monies awarded from Queer Britain to winning artists are paid gross of all taxes and charges. The prizes are as follows:
  • 1st Prize = £1,500/ 2nd Prize = £1,000/ 3rd Prize = £500
  • All shortlisted Artists will be requested to make themselves available to attend a reception where the final prize winners will be announced.


Photography and Copyright


  • Each artist, by entering the Queer Britain Madame F Prize, confirm that they hold all intellectual property rights in the work and the photographs of the work, and that they have obtained prior written approval for the use of any third party copyrighted material contained in the submitted work.
  • Artists must provide up-to-date model release forms / permissions from any person whose likeness appears within the work, agreeing that the work can be entered into competion, can be displayed publicly and be used for promotional and merchandising purposes. Entries without provable and current permissions will be withdrawn from competition and any donation made at the point of entry into the competition will be refunded.
  • By entering, Artists grant Queer Britain Museum Ltd and Queer Britain Trading Ltd non-exclusive rights to use submitted images for the purposes of fundraising and promoting the exhibition and Awards including: catalogue, press and publicity, website, reproduced as merchandise in our online and physical shops and in our on-going communications. Such permission for the use of photographs shall be without charge and in perpetuity.
  • Copyright remains the property of the artist; any enquiries for copyright will be referred to the artist.
  • By entering the Awards, you grant Madame F and Queer Britain non-exclusive rights to use your artwork for the purposes of promoting the Queer Britain/ Madame F partnership.


Data protection and privacy


  • In accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (and all other relevant Data Protection legislation), Queer Britain will hold the personal data of artists supplied on the Entry Form securely.
  • The data will only be used in the process of administering the Queer Britain Madame F Prize and will not be transferred to any third party not directly involved in this competition.

Agreement to the conditions of entry


  • By entering the Queer Britain Madame F Prize, Artists are agreeing to all of the conditions set out within these Rules, Terms and Conditions of Entry.
  • The Charity’s decision on all matters pertaining to the above is final and we reserve the right, at any time, and from time to time to amend, modify, vary, or discontinue the terms of this competition.
  • Queer Britain excludes liability for all loss, damage or claim arising as a result of the participant's entry into the Competition or use of the prizes. No works of art should be sent to the registered office. Queer Britain will not accept any responsibility for any works sent by post or delivered to its offices.
  • The competition will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
