RESIST! BLACK LESBIAN AND

GAY CENTRE DISPLAY

WORKSHOPS

Join curator, archivist, and filmmaker Veronica Mckenzie to help create a display on the importance of Black queer spaces focussing on the groundbreaking, Black Lesbian and Gay Centre, started by Black and Asian activists in 1985.

We’re looking for 20 intergenerational participants who identify as Black and Asian & LGBTQ+ to join us over the course of four workshops at Queer Britain: The National LGBTQ+ Museum. The workshops will help shape a new display as well as provide an opportunity to learn curatorial skills. The sessions take place on the following dates:

Saturday 18 October 11am–3pm
Saturday 25 October 11am–3pm
Saturday 8 October 11am–3pm

Sunday 16 November 11am–3pm

All sessions will take place in London and we ask for a commitment to join the majority of sessions. Return transport within London to each session will be covered as well as refreshments.

To participate, please email using the Apply button below, with the subject line ‘Resist! Black Lesbian and Gay Centre Participant’ with up to 500 words about why you’d like to participate in the sessions. We will confirm participants by email on Tuesday 30th September 2025. Any questions about the sessions, please email using the Ask a Question button below.
